How To Have A Self Care Weekend In 7 Simple Steps

As you may know Self-Care is one of my most favourite things to do 🥰

When we don't take care of ourselves we become depleted, over-worked, sad, unhappy and unable to do much good for ourselves or anyone else!

It's time to dedicate weekends to self-care, self-love and self-healing.

All you need to do is one act of self care for yourself or fill the day with many celebratory self care or self healing actions.

You may be thinking, “I don’t have time,” “What about the kids/my partner /housework, etc. ” The thing is, when you take time to take care of you, you have more energy to do everything else! Allowing yourself to un-apologetically do something kind for yourself results in happy feelings! Happy feelings (=positive energy) leads to more happy feelings. When you are coming from a positive place you spread positivity everywhere you go and make the world a better place.

It really is for the benefit of the whole world that you learn to love yourself more and more.

Choose not to obsess about that thing that is out of your control, look in the mirror and tell yourself you are gorgeous and you are enough! Write yourself a love letter, make a list of everything you love about yourself, create something that does not need to be created just for the sake of enjoying yourself, enjoy yourself for no reason, do yoga, sing loudly in the shower, take a long bubble bath, have a picnic in the sunshine, buy your favourite lipstick/wine/cheese/flowers, take a nap, go to bed early, watch your favourite movie, dance around your living room

In our fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. However, it's essential to remember to take a step back and prioritise self-care, especially on the weekends. Here are seven simple steps you can incorporate into your weekend routine to ensure you are recharged and ready to tackle the week ahead:

1: MINDFUL MEDITATION Kickstart your weekend by dedicating some time to mindful meditation. Find a quiet space, sit comfortably, and focus on your breath. This practice can help centre your mind and set a positive tone for the day ahead.

2: NUTRITIOUS BREAKFAST Fuel your body with a nutritious and delicious breakfast. Whether it's a hearty oatmeal bowl or a colourful fruit salad, starting your day with wholesome foods will give you the energy you need to conquer the day.

3: NATURE WALK Connect with nature by taking a leisurely walk outdoors. Breathe in the fresh air, listen to the sounds of birds chirping, and soak in the beauty of your surroundings. Nature has a way of calming the mind and rejuvenating the spirit.

4: PAMPERING SELF-CARE Indulge in a pampering self-care routine. Treat yourself to a relaxing bubble bath, apply a nourishing face mask, or simply unwind with a cup of herbal tea. Taking care of your body is a form of self-love.

5: CREATIVE EXPRESSION Engage in a creative activity that brings you joy. Whether it's painting, writing, or crafting, tapping into your creative side can be therapeutic and fulfilling. Allow yourself the freedom to express yourself without judgment.

6: DIGITAL DETOX Disconnect from technology for a while and savor the present moment. Put away your phone, turn off the computer, and immerse yourself in the offline world. Read a book, practice yoga, or simply enjoy the silence.

7: GRATITUDE PRACTICE End your day on a positive note by practicing gratitude. Reflect on the moments, people, and experiences that brought you joy throughout the day. Cultivating a sense of gratitude can shift your perspective and increase your overall happiness.

Remember, self-care is not selfish; it is necessary for your overall wellbeing. By incorporating these simple steps into your weekend routine, you are prioritising your mental, emotional, and physical health. So go ahead, take some time for yourself this weekend - you deserve it.
